- The Batavia Coast stretches along the western coast of Western Australia, covering over 900 km of coastline.
- The region is named after the Dutch East India Company ship Batavia which wrecked on Houtman Abrolhos off the coast of Western Australia in 1629. The survivors of the shipwreck were involved in a series of mutinies, murders and mass killings that led to the abrolhos massacre.
- The Batavia Coast is home to many beautiful beaches such as Gnaraloo, Red Bluff and Coronation Beach. It is heaven for surfers, kitesurfers and windsurfers.
- The region offers a rich marine life with a variety of fish species including the famous Western rock lobster. Kalbarri National Park supports one of the world’s greatest spring wildflower displays.
- Visitors can explore the Abrolhos Islands which are known for their unique marine environment and coral reef system. The islands have been designated as a marine reserve to protect the marine life, birdlife and flora/fauna.
- The Batavia Coast has a rich cultural heritage and is home to a number of Aboriginal communities including the Yamaji people of Geraldton.
